Working with the Body's Wisdom and Hidden Aspects of Self
My work centres on somatic practices and shadow work - gentle yet profound approaches to healing that honour both your body's innate wisdom and the parts of yourself that may have been pushed aside or forgotten.
Somatic Practices are like having a loving conversation with your body. This approach recognises that your body holds memories, emotions, and wisdom that your mind might not always access. Through breathwork, gentle movement, mindful touch, and present-moment awareness, we create space for your nervous system to find its natural rhythm of safety and flow. It's about learning to listen to the subtle signals your body sends and responding with compassion and care.
Shadow Work involves tenderly exploring the aspects of yourself that may have been hidden, rejected, or deemed "unacceptable" by yourself or others. Rather than pushing these parts away, we create a safe container to meet them with curiosity and compassion. This isn't about dwelling in darkness, but about integrating all parts of yourself to become more whole and authentic.
Ways of working together include:
Embodied Awareness: Learning to feel and trust your body's signals, using breathwork and gentle movement to reconnect with your physical self and release stored tension or trauma.
Nervous System Regulation: Working with your body's natural capacity to move between states of activation and rest, helping you find greater resilience and emotional balance.
Integration of Disowned Parts: Gently exploring aspects of yourself that may have been suppressed, helping you reclaim lost energy and authenticity through compassionate self-inquiry.
Mindful Presence: Cultivating the ability to be fully present with whatever arises - emotions, sensations, memories - without judgment or the need to immediately change or fix.
Healing Touch and Somatic Experiencing: Using respectful, boundaried touch when appropriate to support nervous system regulation and the body's natural healing processes.
Creating Safety: Establishing a therapeutic container where all parts of you are welcome, allowing for authentic expression and healing at your own pace.
This work is deeply personal and honours your unique journey. Whether you're seeking relief from specific challenges or simply want to cultivate a deeper connection with yourself, these approaches provide a pathway to greater wholeness, authenticity, and embodied well-being.
